Realtime Tracking of Ball Motion at the 2018 European Handball Final | SportTechie.com

For the first time, European Handball Federation has partnered with German tracking company Kinexon to embed tracking sensors in the balls used in the Champions league final event later this month. The sensors will offer a multitude of new data points in the sport for coaches and even commentators to analyse. The real-time data will also be used during the game for fan engagement, allowing spectators to see the sport from an analytical point of view. This isn’t the first time the technology has debuted on the international stage, Kinexon has used similar ball sensor technology for teams such as the Philadelphia 76ers, the Houston Rockets, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Stanford’s men’s basketball team.
