Coaches don’t want to have to stand around and work computers, they want to coach. SMARTSCAN is an RFID system which adds full automation to SMARTSPEED and SMARTJUMP systems. This innovation is unique to Fusion Sport systems, and sets our products apart from all others. Ordered with over 80% of new systems since its 2008 release, SMARTSCAN is changing the way people use technology in testing and training.
How does SMARTSCAN work?
Each athlete wears a wrist band which uniquely identifies them in the PDA software, removing the need for the coach to choose which athlete is to run next. When an athlete wants to run a drill, they simply walk up, swipe in with their wrist band, and the system saves data to their speci¬fic record.
SMARTSCAN is ideal for daily coaching, research and the teaching environment. For large group testing such as talent identification events and combines, it is quite simply a necessity.
Automation is the key to all successful technologies these days. Why? Because it saves time, and make life easy. Now you can set up your SMARTSPEED or SMARTJUMP system, and simply stand back, or even walk away.

TESTING IS NO LONGER A SPECIAL OCCASION
Everybody wants to have regular monitoring data on their athletes, but instead perform fitness testing only 2-3 times per year. Why? Because it interferes and is difficult. With SMARTSCAN and SMARTSPEED regular monitoring has never been so easy. Simply spend 5 minutes setting up the system before a training session or class, and then forget about it. Athletes can simply walk over and take the test, while you run your normal session without interference.
NO MORE ADMINISTRATION
It doesn’t matter what order your athletes run in, whether they join the session late, or even whether or not you know their names! The system does it all for you. You are a coach, so coach. Don’t stand around choosing names and writing down results when technology can do it for you.

With SMARTSCAN you no longer need to worry. Set it up before the session and leave it. Run your normal coaching session, and use the SMARTSPEED station as an EXTRA option, not the ONLY option. Now if you are running a drill and have a group of athletes waiting to get involved, send them over to SMARTSPEED for a while and it will take care of them for you.
RFID Bands
SMARTSCAN wrist bands are used across the entire SMARTSCAN range. Each band contains a unique numeric identifier, which is then associated with an athlete name either before or after testing. The same band can be reused for different athletes in different teams, so you only need enough bands for your largest testing group.
Tech Specs:
- Material: silicon rubber
- Waterproof and flexible with no hard edges (suitable for impact sports)
- RFID tech specs: 125KhZ frequency, passive chip (no batteries), reusable
- Read range: close proximity (semi-contact)
Standard bands are black with Fusion Sport branding however plain and custom branded bands are available upon request (additional charges apply).
REMOTE RFID READERS
SMARTSCAN readers can be connected to either a SMARTSPEED or SMARTSPEED LITE remote unit (gate), or directly to the SMARTJUMP LITE unit. One reader is required in each lane, when performing multiple lane drills. A reader connected to any gate can also be used to perform athlete registration.
PC-RFID READER
Connected to any PC via USB, this reader is used for performing registration of athletes and allocation of RFID bands in MS Excel, to create team lists for import into SMARTSPEED, SMARTSPEED LITE or SMARTJUMP LITE software. Highly recommended if you are working with multiple groups, large groups, or frequently adding new teams to your system.
RFID ENABLED PDA
Using the SMARTSPEED “Form Entry” function, you can design basic forms for recording any type of data, such as anthropometry data, questionnaires or other fitness measurements. RFID enabled PDAs contain in-built RFID readers, giving you all the benefits of RFID and keeping your data in the same format as all of your SMARTSPEED test data. Also compatible with SMARTLINK and SMARTCAPTURE for real-time data sharing and video automation.
These units are ideal for large group testing such as talent identification and combine events.
