What’s different about SMARTJUMP?
Can you tell the difference between a good foot contact and a poor one? With a difference of milliseconds between good and bad foot contact times, objectively controlling the quality of jump training is almost impossible – unless you have SMARTJUMP.
Biofeedback is the most powerful form of learning, and SMARTJUMP can deliver it on every jump. Ensure contact times, power and other crucial aspects of performance are right where you want them.
Whilst Plyometrics is regarded as one of the most effective ways to improve power and speed, researchers and coaches worldwide are still discovering how to use this training mode effectively and safely.
SMARTJUMP has the answers.

Objective Immediate Feedback
“Faster, faster!!” screams a coach trying to teach their athletes to perform fast ground contacts. Even if the coach can identify what a good contact looks like, teaching this to the athlete is complicated and in many cases not achieved. SMARTJUMP allows you to program in a goal contact time to the millisecond, and completely removes the subjective side of coaching Plyometrics. As soon as the athlete leaves the ground they receive feedback, and can adjust their technique for every landing. Learning correct technique is simple and fast. Within two to three sets your athletes will be doing any Plyometric exercise exactly as they should be.
Train for Quality not Quantity
It is essential that Plyometric training is performed properly. Contact times which are as little as 100 milliseconds too long not only FAIL to train the Stretch Reflex and other ‘Plyometric abilities’, but greatly increase the risk of injury to the athlete. SMARTJUMP allows you to set a standard which is both effective and safe, and when the athlete cannot maintain this standard, it is time to stop.
Powerful Monitoring Tool
Many of our clients use SMARTJUMP as one of their core tools for assessing athlete recovery and readiness to train. Whether returning from injury, or recovering from a game, SMARTJUMP is a quick and effective way to assess athlete state and ability to perform intense training. Reduce injuries and maximise training performance by knowing exactly how ready your athletes are to perform.
Comprehensive Analysis
SMARTJUMP measures a lot more than just contact time, flight time and jump height. A range of variables such as Peak Power Output, Power:Mass Ratio, Flight time/Contact Time ratio and Reactive Strength Index provide you with a comprehensive analysis of jump performance and its relationship with speed and agility.
Highly Configurable
SMARTJUMP can be used for any jumping activities, or even during sprinting to measure ground contact and flight times. Single jump, multiple jump, or timed protocols such as the Bosco tests are all at your fingertips. Join mats together for multiple landing areas, or even have up to four jump stations with feedback running concurrently on one control unit. Provide real-time feedback on any variable, and even dual feedback to control both contact times and jump height at the same time.
Consistent Measurement in any Conditions
Thin contact mats or light based jump systems are fine if you always have a hard consistent surface to work on, but what happens when you want to use them on grass or sand? SMARTJUMP is thick and rigid to provide a consistent jump surface, even if you move from the gym to the field.
Durable and Versatile
Built to withstand harsh punishment, SMARTJUMP mats can be used on any surface, with almost any footwear, including football boots or even short athletics spikes. They can be used in the rain, and in fact some customers use them in swimming pools to measure wall contacts in tumble turns. Try doing that with a light based jumping system.
SMARTJUMP LITE is a dedicated jump testing and training system without the need to connect to SMARTSPEED remote units.
SMARTJUMP LITE measures all of the same variables as SMARTJUMP does when connected to a SMARTSPEED or SMARTSPEED LITE remote (gate) unit.
The difference is in the feedback options that are available: When using a SMARTJUMP mat connected to a SMARTSPEED unit, you can select either single or dual feedback modes. With SMARTJUMP LITE, only one feedback mode can be used at any one time.
For an overview of SMARTJUMP’s real-time feedback features, see the video on the OVERVIEW tab of this page.
SMARTJUMP LITE uses the same contact mat, but connected directly to a PDA and Grabba Sleeve. Its size and portability makes it popular for teams who want jump monitoring while travelling, and especially for use in clinical settings where space is at a premium.
The standard SMARTJUMP LITE system is non-wireless and therefore not compatible with SMARTSCORE, SMARTLINK/SMARTEXCEL and SMARTCAPTURE.
A wireless version is however available if you require integration with these other products.
